York Mills is one of Toronto’s most distinguishable prosperous neighbourhoods of North York / Toronto. The area name is linked to saw and grist mills that dotted the Don River, which flows through York Mills. mills are long gone now, and has been replaced by shining office towers and luxury condominiums. The Town of York Mills became part of the Township of North York. North York later became a borough, and then a city, and was merged with five other municipalities and a regional government to form the new “City of Toronto” in 1998. Its main arterial roadways including Yonge Street and Bayview Avenue – which were once impassable by car, now serve as major roadways to and from the city core.
Despite all these changes York Mills has managed to maintain a peaceful tranquility and natural beauty that has helped make it one of Toronto’s most desirable neighbourhoods and is home to luxury condos and high end homes.
